How does Screenaway track my screen time?

Screenaway uses Apple’s DeviceActivity framework to monitor your screen time. This is the same system-level API that powers Apple’s built-in Screen Time feature. All tracking happens on-device — no data is sent to any server.

How do I set up app blocking?

Go to the Blocking tab in the app and tap “Add Schedule.” Select the apps or categories you want to block, set the time window, and enable the schedule. Screenaway uses Apple’s FamilyControls framework to enforce blocks at the system level. You’ll need to grant Screen Time permission when prompted.

How do I set up the Apple Watch app?

Make sure Screenaway is installed on your iPhone, then open the Watch app on your iPhone and scroll down to find Screenaway. Tap “Install” if it’s not already on your watch. You can add complications by long-pressing your watch face, tapping “Edit,” and selecting Screenaway from the complication picker.

Why does Screenaway need access to my camera?

The camera is only used for the “Exercise to Unlock” feature, which uses on-device Vision AI to count exercises like pushups. No images or video are stored, recorded, or sent anywhere. You can use all other features without granting camera access.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime through your iPhone: go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Screenaway → Cancel Subscription. You’ll continue to have Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Is Screenaway free for students?

Yes! Screenaway Pro is free for verified students. Open the app, go to Settings → Subscription, and tap “Student Discount” to verify your student status.

My screen time data doesn’t seem accurate. What should I do?

Screen time tracking depends on Apple’s DeviceActivity API, which may have slight variations from Apple’s built-in Screen Time. Make sure Screenaway has Screen Time permission enabled in Settings → Screen Time. If issues persist, try removing and re-granting the permission.
