A dream is gone in ninety seconds.

Half Awake is a voice journal for the minute after you wake. Raise your wrist and speak, eyes still shut, phone still face-down on the other side of the room. By the time you get up, the dream is written down.

Capture

Eyes closed, one tap

A complication on the watch face starts recording without a screen to find or a keyboard to aim at. It works with the phone in another room and with no signal at all.

Transcribe

Written on the device itself

Speech becomes text using Apple’s on-device transcription, and if a language cannot be done on the device, Half Awake says so and offers typing rather than sending the audio somewhere. Nothing you say is uploaded to be understood.

Recall

What keeps coming back

The journal links recurring people, places and images across entries, so patterns in what you dream become visible over weeks. It records and connects. It does not tell you what any of it means.

Private

No account, no server of ours

There is no sign-up and no profile. Entries live on your device, and sync between your own devices through your iCloud account if you choose to turn it on.

Everywhere

Wrist, Lock Screen, widget

A watch face complication, Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets, a Control Centre button, and one quiet nudge at the start of the wake window you choose.

Yours to take

Export whenever

Every entry exports as Markdown or JSON with Half Awake Pro. Deleting the app takes the journal with it, and “Delete everything” in Settings clears it without uninstalling.

Free, and Pro

Everything the app is for is free and uncapped: unlimited dreams, unlimited voice capture, on-device transcription, capture from the Watch, titles and tags for the last thirty days, the streak, and the small widget.

Half Awake Pro adds Patterns, the Lucid toolkit, full-text search, audio playback, Face ID lock, iCloud sync, Markdown and JSON export, and the remaining widgets. It is $4.99 per month, $29.99 per year with a 14-day free trial, or $59.99 once, for good.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel any time in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. The lifetime purchase is not a subscription and never renews.

A note on what this is

Half Awake is a journal, for reflection rather than treatment. It records what you say and counts what repeats. It does not interpret dreams, predict anything, or offer medical, psychological or therapeutic advice. If your sleep or your dreams worry you, please speak to a doctor.
